Simpler

I'm working on much simpler edgings for the muslin milk jug covers, beaded chains that are attached to the material as I go, using the aero hook, so that they don't even have to be sewn on. The machine embroidery is an extra embellishment, but it seems to distort the material, so I may have to rethink that.

  1. It is very hard to turn under the circular shape in sewing, are these made with tow layers? If it is one, I machine straight stitch at the very edge and then turn. under press down, the raw edge is tucked carefully, just by the stitching.(hopefully hat made since) I love this little lady she reminds me of Sunbonnet Sue, used to be very popular!

    1. I did my original ones like that, but these ones I've done in two layers, sewn and turned. Much quicker, which was the object of the exercise. They looked fine until I did the embroidered scallops. On the pink one, I did the scallops after the tatting, which seemed to work better.

  2. I love the pink on. The delicate, little beads give it an elegant touch.

  4. Are you putting adorable Miss Caroline on each one or will you use different motifs? These are very appealing! They still seem labor-intensive, though!

    1. I'll use different motifs. It can be a good way of trying out motifs! But yes, they still take a fair bit of time.
